SEE DJERBA Houmt Souk & Guellala

SEE Djerba is an international media art festival set to take place on the Tunisian island of Djerba in August 2025. Known for blending contemporary art with natural and cultural heritage, the event returns with the theme “Water & Earth”, reflecting the island’s unique environmental and cultural landscape. The festival will unfold in two main locations: Houmt Souk from August 14 to 16, and Guellala on August 17.

SEE Djerba 2025 invites artists, both local and international, to explore the intersection of nature, community, and digital media. Through exhibitions, public installations, workshops, and performances, the festival seeks to foster dialogue around ecological sustainability and the preservation of cultural identity. The program emphasizes decentralization, with works and events dispersed across various urban and rural spaces, encouraging audience immersion and local engagement. One of the defining aspects of the festival is its accessibility—admission to exhibitions and events is free of charge, promoting inclusivity and community participation.

SEE Djerba has gained a reputation for its commitment to open calls, giving emerging artists a platform to showcase work that resonates with the festival’s evolving themes. Previous editions, held in 2024, 2023, 2019, and 2017, have addressed similar issues related to water ecologies, climate awareness, and the integration of digital art practices within traditional contexts.

SEE Djerba promises to be a vibrant, thought-provoking celebration of art, environment, and community, reinforcing Djerba’s position as a growing hub for contemporary cultural expression in the Mediterranean region.
